Wow, I thought the HSE had it standard along with that phone button on the right side of the steering wheel.  You don't have that either?

I just had a ride this afternoon in a '05 HSE and it didn't have OEM bluetooth either.

Is there a way to add this feature with dealer parts or is it part of the entire stereo head unit?

It was offered as a dealer installed option in Jan '05.  LR had not developed it yet for factory installation.  At the time, it was about $900 if I recall to have it installed, and that is just a ripoff, especially when the computer chip in the stereo system is already set up for all this.  I never did it, but instead bought a Motorola Bluetooth speakerphone for about $50 which I plug into cig lighter to keep charged, although it runs for hours without being plugged in.  Sound quality is pretty good, it sits on top of the HDC switch in front of the center console.  Just hit a button when I get in the car, it synchs with my phone, then I just dial from my cell phone and set it on the dash in front of the NAV screen.  No problem.   Lots cheaper than that factory deal, but you don't get to use the pretty number pad on the stereo....too bad.

The money I saved just paid for the chrome wheels, etc that I put on....

I'm gonna see what my local dealer will quote me for it.  I would REALY like to be able to hear the phone conversation through the factory sound system.  I always struggle to hear through aftermarket devices.  I'm sure I can turn the stereo system up loud enough to hear it though.  Too many years of playing the drums I guess.

My LR dealer swore the car had bluetooth, but having done my research before I purchased an 05' LR3, I knew bluetooth was not included. The dealer installed and aftermarket Motorola system free of charge, of which I have been extremely happy with. The unit itself is under $100 on Amazon, the expensive part is the proper installation.

So do you hear the calls through the audio system with the Motorola unit?

I have a 2006 LR3 HSE and my phone connects fine.  The problem is that I can't figure out why it plays thru the speakers sometimes and other times it doesn't.  There seems to be no rhyme or reason.  The phone shows that it is connected.  The only way it consistently works is if I am on the phone when I turn on the ignition.  And the voice commands are so frustrating that I've finally given up.  I got tired of hearing that it doesn't recognize my command.  I'm sure people in other cars were curious as I'm driving down the road in the car alone and cursing at the phone commands.  Maybe if I had a British accent it would work.

Anyone else experience these problems?  Solutions?

We almost bought an 05' without bluetooth and that was one thing my wife "had to have" so I started checking around for aftermarket set-ups.  Circuit City had a Parrot bluetooth set-up and it was pretty sweet.  I think it was $279 or $289 installed, had an LCD screen on it for a lot of cool options. We wound up getting an 06' with bluetooth I wound up not needing one.  Might be a viable option for those of you without it.

**Read the reviews on the Parrot, it appears there is some issues with Verizon users.
