I've been testing out using the aerosol rubberized rocker guard on various components, crossmember, knuckles, frame, lower section of bumper. So far it seems to be sticking a lot better than the various rust paints/coatings I've tried but I'll post in a few weeks if it was worth it. It's not too hard to put on yourself and about $7-10 per can which seems to cover a fair bit.

I have used the spray can stuff. It worked for about a year in my off road trailer then started to peel out. I had sanded it down before hand but still it did not stick.
