I have a 97 discovery and i took the oil pan off to find a rod cap loose and another crushed, and a crank with a couple of melted bearings ,can i remove the crank without removing the engine ? thanxxx

if the crank and rods etc are that bad off, you would probably be better off by just overhauling the whole motor. maybe you can take it to the right kind of shop and get a little 90 day warranty or something.

you can remove it like that but it's not worth it, might as well pull it and re-build.
