Just a quick question.  I have an 1986 110 that I was doing my oil change on yesterday and decided it was time to check my Dif fluids.  I cracked the front open to find it full of water.  I also found the pinion seal to be leaking.  Any typical area where water enters into the Dif?  Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Water in the axles is a huge problem for me in my area (Mozambique). Water enters the hubs through the hub seals or drive flanges and destroys the hub's grease lubricant. The wheel bearings then fail and by the time you hear a grinding noise from the hubs, the bearings, hubs and stub axles are ruined. Water can also enter the front hubs under the rubber capon the end of the drive shaft.

I you drive through water check your hubs often. A small amount of water enters everytime you immerse  the axle and it builds up. Ten thousand kms later the wheels literally fall off.

First indication of wheelbearing failure is excessive pedal travel on first press of the brake. That's because the wobbling disc has backed the disc pistons up.
