ORIGINAL: GadgetRick I'm glad I got my 04 Disco. Seems like it's one of the last pure (i.e. non-Ford) Rover vehicles. Glad to hear the LR3 hasn't really suffered, however so maybe there's still hope... The Rickster The sad fact is in todays world, no manufacturer actually builds a vehicle completely from their own parts, but actually raid each others part bins. (i.e. they all deal with the same componet suppliers these days) Or do deals to swap items. like Ford is buying Diesel engines from the PSA group, for it's cars. They even have started sharing factories, Toyota's new mini city car, is built in the same factory as the new mini city cars from Peugeot and Citroen, in fact all three cars are the same but with different noses. Each have put different bits into the car to create the whole and saved a lot of money by doing so. Having said that, that is what Land Rover have always done, they have always raided the parts bin of other companies within the same group, the first Land Rover was built with a Rover Engine and gearbox, your disco 4 has door handles from other Rover cars, same with the sun roof (if you have one) switches, steering wheel etc etc... The LR3 is also not the first landie to have a jag engine fitted, back in the 70's they were building some landies with jag engines for the army contracts. The V8 is of course a buick.. [:)]
