Hi Guys,
My first post here and I wish it was on better terms... OK here is my problem. In May I bought a 96 Discovery from a private party. Around the first week of July I was driving and the oil pressure light came on, I pulled over ASAP into a parking lot, shut it off and waited a few minutes, checked the oil and the oil went more than halfway up the dipstick. Checked it again, same result. Was only a few blocks from my house so turned it back on and slowly took the side streets home... as i was going home the engine started to sound like a diesel engine (which would be cool but its gas :) ). Sooo it NEVER siezed up on me or anything, got all the way home with that terrible noise and the oil light on.
Thats where it has been parked ever since... during the time its been parked, a MASSIVE amount of fluid (looks like oil) has leaked out of the bottom of it, The oil on the dipstick is now dark dark dirty brown. The engine coolant remains untouched... it looks and smells like coolant. When I was driving home it never overheated or anything...
Does anyone know what this could be? Im afraid to take it to a repair shop because I dont want to start it again... but to get it towed I have to get it out of our parking garage, which means starting it....
