Anyone know what pully this is i believe tht it is the tensioner but not sure anyone positive i did a screw driver test and the pully's bearings are shot so i want to order a replacement but need to know whether or not its the tensioner. Someone said it may be a "coolant pully" but i never heard of that before. Thanks

Yes, that is the tensioner pulley. The pulley directly below this was the subject of a recall. It should be steel and NOT plastic. It is hard to isolate noises of this type. Have your local LR dealer check for recalls and campaigns. Or PM me your VIN.

Bait,
I PM'd you the VIN and I heard that you should not replace the assembly pully, that should be left to the dealer. Is that true? it doesn't look that hard. Is there any specific steps i have to do to replace it? thanks

kfordric,

I checked your VIN # and there are no open recalls or campaigns on your vehicle. This is usually a good sign that the vehicle has been to a dealer regularly.

It's not hard to replace. I don't think the tensioner pulley is available separate, might have to buy the assembly. To change it easily, you need to remove the viscous fan assembly. This requires special fan wrenches.

Hey thanks for checking on the pully recalls... I bought the Disco with all the dealer records and service records from the original owner. I guess i lucked out. But i'm gonna order the parts and try doing that myself. Worth saving the money by doing it yourself
