my 03 disco2 will ocassionally get stuck in park

felixx23 -> my 03 disco2 will ocassionally get stuck in park (5/31/2005 1:15:54 PM)

This has been going on for about week or so now. I'm trying to figure out where the problem may be. i assume there is a switch activated by the brake pressure that triggers the soleniod down by the tranny to allow me to get it out of park and into drive.

has anyone else had this problem? i found a post reguarding this issue in search but no replies concerning the problem.

are trhere any technical documents online that show mechanical and elecrtical schematics or the discovery? I noticed there isn't a Repair Manual for the 03' Disco 2? or am i looking in the wrong places.

I have 35K miles on it and it's still under warranty. is something like this usually covered under the warranty? if not, i'd like to repair it myself or remove the locking device. after all, i know why it's there... it's so i don't put it in drive without my foot on the brake.

thanks in advance, and i'm a new member here.

if it is still under warenty i would defently take it in before messing with it. If you cause anoter prob and the dealer finds out both probs will not be covered under warenty. Just take it in and see what they want to do. It may seem like an easy fix which it prolly is but why not just use the warenty? If they don't fix it post a reply and i will look more into it.

Take it to the Dealer. Most likely a brake switch failure. No TIB's but a common issue.

thanks for the input guys.
luckily, it hasn't done it since i posted the other day. i plan on taking it into the dealer anyways to see if they can look into it or just change the part out.
i'll keep you posted. again, thanks.
