I see some discussion on Rovers with diesel engines. Which models were/are avail with diesel?
What are the diesels as far as mechanical inj, IDI, Di, Turbo or NA?

We could be here for a long time listing all the variations available around the world for all the different Land Rover models...

Are you looking for information for a particular reason, i.e. looking at buying a Discovery or Range Rover?

As Land Rover has produced every type of Diesel around, and almost put every type in every Land Rover too..

Ok....let me rephrase the q.

What about the later models, say..80's and up. Common in the US.

I actually bought a 98 Discovery today. It is in very good condition except the drivers window pops when lowered. But the window works good.

not sure what was exported over to the states, 80's saw the n/a 2.25 engine, fitted to series 3's, and very early 90/110's This was joined by the 2.5n/a.
Towards the mid 80's saw the intoduction of the 2.5 turbo charged engine, this was still only fitted to the 90/110 models, but an italian turbo diesel, (VM) was fitted to rangies.
1990 saw the intoduction of the 200TDI in the Discovery launch, ( turbo with intercooler, and again a 2.5litre engine) This was the fitted as standard to the 90/110's but was detuned slightly to give the disco a slight edge. Some rangies were also fitted with the 200tdi, but not many.
1994ish saw the intorduction of the 300tdi... this was fitted to all land rover models.

Hi, the simple answer to what was fitted with an oil burner is all of 'em. for example here in France if you wanted anything larger than a small compact with gasoline they would probably call for the head doctor!!! You might like to know that the new Peugot/Ford/Citroen/fiat 2 litre turbo oil burner is at present the most powerful engine of production 2 litre ever made. It is the basis of the Peugot multi fuel race car.
series diesel. Roger
