I have LR2 w/o Nav/bluetooth since May w/ no issues except for no sound/amp. not loading (fixed by software reload), and minor rattle in both front door panels ( I think).

I was debating if I should install bluetooth into my LR  and which one -Parrot 3100 ($300 by the local reputable shop), or OEM Bluetooth kit (about $600 parts only).

from my experience w/ Volvo dealer they did not like ANYTHING aftermarket, and tried to blame window problem on my aftermarket tweeters...

So I am ready to get OEM kit, but have a couple of questions I hope someone on this forum can answer:

1.  Do electric LR parts come with installation instructions?

2. Is the kit a "plug-and-play" thing, or I will need to go to the dealer to get a software/ re-set done?

Thanks a lot for your help.

PS

Question #3: is it a diy job?

The Land Kit is tough to install (4-5 hours)  because it is a plug in kit it does not compromise your wiring or warranty,DIY is not for this kit ! it also requires vehicle reprograming.  everything does on the new cars with CAN BUS wiring,
Beware when wiring aftermarket accessories, never cut or tap into any wiring that is twisted, these are CAN BUS circuits and they are wires using digital signals, you cant shorten them or tap into them , you'll cause hours of stress for some poor tech.

Gotta agree with Dirtyduk. I looked into the Bluetooth aftermarket items before we purchased our LR2. None are without their own problems.  When I ordered my LR2 last October, we added the Bluetooth to it because of all the negative comments from the LR techs about people installing their own "kits" after purchase in other LRs.  Out of curiousity, is it a $$$ thing that is making you look to aftermarket, rather than to the LR2's own Bluetooth kit?  If so, I think you may end up spending lots of dollars more in the end with an aftermarket kit, just because of what Dirtyduk has posted.

I read on another forum that OEM i-pod kit did not require any software downloads, and was not that difficult to install-do you know for sure that BT kit needs software and is 4-5 hours to install?

I am considering LR kit because it will not void the warranty, and will not add any "new" display to the dash...

Thanks a lot.
