I'm looking at a 2007 LR3 HSE with luxury package. I have an offer for $44,500. I am coming from an MDX and I am concerned about LR quality. Will this be a purchase I regret? Any comments greatly appreciated.

Well, my 2005 has over 55k miles.  While it hasn't been free of problems, I don't find them any more frequent than other vehicles, and in some cases less than for other highly sophisticated ones.  The 2005's had a lot of problems due to the new technology, but various software updates, etc, have resulted in quality improvements each year.

Some of the message boards out there will show evidence of some horror stories about their vehicles.  But I would guess that it is no more prevalent than for other high tech vehicles.  If your plans are to go offroad, you will not find a better vehicle, period.  The HSE has 19" wheels, which limits the tire availability, but you can always buy a set of 18" wheels and get some Cooper Zeon LTZ's or a similar tire.

If you plan on staying on the road, keep the 19" wheels, get rid of the Goodyear's as soon as possible, and  put on the Michelin Synchrone's.  They are quiet, last forever, and they are strong enough for a lot of offroad adventures, within reason.

Personally, I thought I would never own another LR vehicle when I stumbled on the LR3.  I was so impressed with its technology and quality, that I have absolutely no regrets about owning the vehicle, even though gas mileage is only around 13 on average for my style of driving.  On the road, I get 16-18 for long highway trips.  So...join the fraternity.  Land Rover owners are an extraordinary bunch...as the ads say!!!

Well, I bought and we really love the vehicle. I am impressed with the level of engineering, fit and finish and general build quality. This quite a vehicle with a great deal of electronics. We'll  see how it goes. We absolutely love the styling.
