Importing two 110 Defenders

wolfpack6 -> Importing two 110 Defenders (9/29/2007 8:15:43 PM)

Hello all,

I am pretty lucky as I live and work in Germany so I have had the opportunity to find a couple older defenders I can ship back to the states when they turn 25 next year or when I return to the states in a few years.  This red one is in fantastic shape because it belonged to a fire station in Switzerland, so it doesn’t need much repair. It does however have the small gas engine in it, so I plan on swapping that for a 3.5 V8.

I also have a  blue station wagon that is in much poorer condition, so the plan for that one is to buy a 1999 or 2000 model and strip it for parts to overhaul the 1983 before shipping it back.

I have been stationed here in Germany for quite a few years now, and a big admirer of the Land Rovers. (I was just at the Rover dealership a few weeks ago drooling over the new Defenders.)
The 25 year old exception rule is the only way I can figure to get one (or two) back to the states. It has not been easy to find the right model year in good shape.

The 25 year exception is the only way.
That why they sell for big bucks here.
At least you have time to find ones that are worth importing
