Well when i am driving and i take off from a light and im open throttle on the gas and shift into second there is sometimes like a hard knock, but it doesnt seem to do anything just curious if somebody else has this problem, the suv is 02 freelander S

Hi my 01 freelander had the same sort of noise when I changed gear. Sort of like a knocking noise coming from under the car somewhere. I took it for it's MOT and mentioned it to the mechanic and he fixed it saying it was just a loose bush. Did it for free! Result! So yours could be something equally as simple to fix. Hope so dude.

Most likely the VCU mounts or the front mount on the rear diff.  Get under and have a good investigation by grasping the propshaft and twisting and pulling it.  Both are relatively easy to sort.
