Hi All,
Have just had a shock, accidentally put £30 of petrol into the Discovery and drove the vehicle not knowing. Naturally it stopped, and was recovered to a Landrover dealer. They have rang me on saturday with a bill for £6500 to replace the entire fuel system on the car. Tank, Filter, Pump all of it?. Does this sound a fair price?. Surprisingly no one has offered to flush it through! first to see!
Is misfuelling covered by your insurance company? The vehivle is three years old
Any advise grateful Thanks

Well having owned my LR3 for about 2 days I dont know much about them. But I do know that taking your car to the dealer is like paying for a diamond ring and getting a CZ.
Dealers dont know much more then the average shop. Call around and get some prices from non-corporation shops. Call all you can find, and NEVER take it to the dealer. This is not a big deal, replace some parts, flush the system. But do you want to pay $$$ an hour for dealer workers or $ an hour for jow blow who can still turn a wrench like a pro.

This is all experiance from working on my VW and Jeep. Yeah the dealer will charge you $500 to swap plugs and wires, or $300 for a 30 min fix. Call you can find cheaper alternatives who are just as skilled

Fuel contamination is hard to deal with, the tank only needs to be flushed not replaced, certainly a new filter. As for the pump, I would get a second option on that, what you need to find out is if there could be internal seal damage or not.
I would certainly call your insurance company, that may all be covered.
Good luck,
