Hi all,

Posted this in the LR3 forum but not getting much response.

We just bought a 2005 LR3 SE with 35K on it and have brought it back to Canada and now the one set of keys we have won't work. Neither the Lock or Unlock buttons do anything.

Apparently there is no battery in the FOB so it can't be a dead battery, could it have somehow become un-programmed ?

OR - Its been very rainy here, and our sunroof is leaking. After some reading it seems like the RF power supply for the remote is under the pass. side floor (right under where the leak is) One person's advice was to go under there and replace the "sauder junction" - has anyone had this done ? Im wondering how much $$$ to repair this.

It never came up at the dealership as they were working at that point, and he did speak with LR today and they are sending him a new key/FOB but I have a feeling even after reprogramming it it won't work.

I'll hang up and listen.

What do you mean there is no battery in it so it can't be a dead battery. There has to be a battery in it or it won't work.

Heh Mike, thanks for your response, I just meant there's no pop-in, pop-out battery that can be replaced, its battery is soddered onto the unit (my understanding at least)

And it was working for the first few days we had the truck, now absolutely nothing (except locking and unlocking manually and starting the car) so it does have a battery in it and we've been driving the car so if its a recharging issue that should have taken care of it. I'm really at a loss here and with the dealer 1000 miles away Im kind of on my own. (except for these LR boards which are very informative)

As far as I know, all remotes have replaceable battrys, need to pop it open and replace the battery.

Ok, I will contact a dealer here and ask about that. I would assume it would need re-programming after that ? Is it safe to try to reprogram your key yourself ?

You shouldn't need to reprogram it, just replace the battery.

Most new key have a chip that can loose there program.
If the LR is like Ford it will have to be done at the dealer, take all
your keys they may have to do all of them.
At ford it cost about $90 U.S.

It takes a PDS through the OBD port to do this.

I have replaced my battery after month of having a dead battery and no programing was needed, so unless Rover has changed the FOB for the LR3, you should be OK.

Very cool, thanks to both of you for your input. So 1st step will be contacting a dealer tomorrow and have them replace the battery, see if that works and go from there. I will for sure post back with updates just in case this happens to someone else.

Thanks !

No, first step is to verify thru the dealer the battery is replaceable, then save your self some money and remove you old battery, buy a new one from any of the large drug stores, usually they have all the disc size batteries, install it and you should be set.
