Was driving and all of a sudden my EFI light comes on and it started cutting out like it was flooding, until you floor it it goes fine.
The motor cuts out and will back fire sometimes threw the air filter, the only way it will get going or keep moving is to floor it.
It ideals for awhile then it will die, but starts fine.
Thanks

Fuel filter/pump? or water in fuel? Try adding some gasline antifreeze and changing the filter first.

Before you start adding parts or fluids, how many miles on your truck and what sort of tune related work has been done on it recently?

If he hasn't done a filter on an 89 it's going to need it, and removing any built up condensation is a good idea anyway.

Remember if you're running premium fuel you're not getting the advantages of the 10% ethanol in the blend to remove any water build up.

So neither can hurt, and should be done from time to time anyway.

80,000 miles I've had it about 3 months I put new plugs in it thats it, since I had it. I doubt the person I bought it from did much to it. I'm running the cheap fuel. Also the tank of gas before this one I put FI cleaner in the tank... Could have that done something?
Thanks

So first of all, no cheap gas, it will just carbon up your heads and cost you big repairs.
Second, what brand of spark plug and did you check the gap?
You will probably nee to replace the plug wires, I would suggest you install some Magnacor 8mm wires, Rovers run real well on them.
I would agree with the last post, change your fuel sytem.

I tried the antifreeze in the gas and a new fuel filter. It's still doing the same thing, just noticed when the engine is cold it runs fine the EFI light is still on.
