It's new tire time and I'm trying to figure out what the best option is in the 255/60/18 size. I'm not a huge fan of the stock Goodyear Wrangler HP tires, so if anyone has some other suggestions, that would be great.

You are lucky you got the 18's. There are a lot more choices in the 18 than in the 19. If you give us a bit more info, we might be able to help steer you in the right direction. Plan to see any snow, do you off road it at all, are you into the low profile fad, do you want an all around tire or do you want dedicated sets for summer/winter/off road?

A number of people have switched up to a 285/65/18 for a better ride and traction. I would suggest you look at the Bridgestone tire line of Duellers, they offer them in 3 or 4 tread designs, they are quiet, last longer the the Good Year tire and are less money.

Has anyone put on 255 50 19 on their LR3 instead of the standard 255 55 19.  What effect does the slightly lower profile have on the ride height?  Thanks

Well, the obvious answer is that it would make the LR3 ride a little lower. The not so obvious answer is that with every inch you take away from the side wall, the ride stiffens at an alarming rate. Maybe I'm just getting a bit too old for my own good but I can't handle the bumpitty ride of low pros.

Jantiz- Do the suspension height sensors have to make any adjustments for a slightly small diameter tire like a 50 instead of 55 sidewall?  Would I see a significantly larger gap between tire and upper wheel well?  I don't go offroading, and I prefer not to have more clearance above the tire.

You will end up with more clearance between top of tire and wheel well by switching to the tire size you asked about.  As best as I am aware, the sensors measure articulation (how far the air suspension is "extended" ) , not general vehicle height. You would have to increase wheel diameter to make up for the gap created by going with 50's.
