when its cold (in the morning or when i get off work) my Disco wont shift from first for a while, sometimes reaching 5000 rpms before i let off for a bit. it seems to be getting worse and so far my only soloution is to let it warm up, thus making high revs safe, before i go anywhere, and therefore not really fixing anything.

thanks in advance.

operating on the idea that the fluid is there and at the correct level, and everything works after everything warms up. (at least shifts) The things i look for are. tranny filter, the fluid itself, the shift linkage in the transmission. the transmission pump. First guess would be filter. also check the 4 low range and see if that makes a difference. I know some vehicles with the low lock engaged it stays in 1st, check that linkage as well. I have not had the problem so i am just doing the troubleshooting thing, based on experienced with other vehicles. When you find out let me know. Maybe there is a way to prevent it. Hope it helps. duboff
