ORIGINAL: bavarian_range89 What are the three amigos? About half of the time that I apply the brake the ABS, parking brake, and Traction control lights flash on and off. Are those the three amigos? If so, what does that mean is wrong with my RR? Yes those are your 3 amigos. They shouldn't come on or flash. If you hit your brakes hard, do you feel a pulsation on the brake pedal?

If so, what does that mean is wrong with my RR? That would be them. Most common cause is worn hubs allowing the reluctor ring to vibrate. Usually noticed when you have brake pad squeal since that introduces subsonic vibration into the system confusing the computer. The proper fix is to rebuild/replace hubs, the common treatment if the bearings don't feel too worn is to us another type of brake pad (say if you bought metalics) that is less likely to squeal.

Thanks, the strange thing is is that my brakes feel great, no pulsation, great pedal feel, no squeaking... The lights usually come on not if I hit the brakes hard, but if I hit them suddenly, like in stop-and-go traffic when I'm constantly alternating the brake and gas pedals. So ultimately I need to replace/rebuild the hubs or maybe even use a different brake pad?

How many miles and what year is your truck? Don't start worrying about hubs, they are only one of many many things that can cause your lights to come on.

If you try to do a panic stop, do you get a pulsation in your brake pedal?

ORIGINAL: Savannah Hi bavarian_range89 The 3 Amigos only applies to the Discovery2.If your Range Rover has three lights coming on when you tramp the brake pedal suddenly, you need to replace the ABS accumelator. Regards Marius Not necessarily so, bottom line as we have been saying for days, he needs to go get his codes read.

Newbie here, I was doing another Google search and came up with something interesting: In March, 2006, Rover introduced a "repair kit" for about $100, that's to resolve about 90% of the "three amigos" issue. I called the local dealer here and sure enough, it's part # SW0500030. But that, I need to work it with an "Autologic or T4 system" and takes about 4 hours to do this. Not sure what those are yet, and the parts guy wasn't much help and the service dept. was much help either. I guess they want to stop by and pay them the arm and leg. That part number was $89.95 and there's no need to replace the existing modulator to fix the problem. There's no need to buy a used modulator or spend hundreds if not a couple of thousand bucks, if this works. Has anyone purchased this authorized Rover "repair kit"? If so, what's involved or if anyone can shed some light on this, thanks! Oh, my 3 amigos lights are on constantly from start to finish, braking does not make them flash or anything like that, running over gravel has no effect either, just in the case. When I purchased the car, the 3 amigos didn't come on then (of course, right) and it checked out okay with my trusted mechanic and had the service records (not a lot done since it only had less than 60K original miles for a 99').

Replacing the shuttle valve has about a 50% rate for for correcting the problem. There is now another kit out for $800 plus when the shuttle kit doesn't fix the problem, but bottom line before you start throwing any parts at it, get the codes read and cleared, see if any of the original codes come back then think about parts replacements.
