Hello everyone

I am a noob to land rovers. I was hoping u could give me some info for which land rover to get. I am planning a trip from the U.S. to costa rica, with 2 months of driving to as many of the mayan ruins as possible. I am thinking of a D110 or a disc II. I would perfer a diesel. I have been a land rover fan for a long time but never owned one so any info or personal experinces would be very helpful.

Yes you are new but not to worry.

No diesels have been imported to the U.S.

A D-110 would be great but as only 500 came in to the U.S
for sale and 25 to Canada they will be hard to find and they
are 1993's so the ones for sale will be big bucks and most
likely need work.

A friend of mine got a D-110 three years ago for $32K and
then put $15K in to get it right.

A Disco II or a Disco I will cost a lot less to get and prep.

A Disco I has much less electrical advances, and has a locking transfer case.
What ever you get you will need to have it gone over
so try to buy one that you can save money to have worked on, and take extra parts.

Thank you for the info, and that site is very kool. what are the other advantages of the disc I over the disc II? The electrical doesnt bother me at all. I just want to let you know this is not my frist long trip, just the frist one i will need a truck. I have driving a loop around the U.S. over 10,000 miles just to see it. Also driven from germany to moscow, and south to the croatia bosnia border. the problem for me is i am coming from the BMW world and have to much respect for europian vehicles.(hint the reson i want a land rover) But has anyone on this site driven south of the border?
