hello I'm really thinking about getting either a 2000 or 2001 land rover discovery but I keep reading that people have alot of problems with them, that they are unreliable and brake down alot is this true or do they just not no what they are talking about.  I would like to get all the info I can on them before I jump in and buy one. thank you

Compare it to a US made or British made car in the 1970's for reliability.  It requires owner knowledge and maintenance, but take care of will pull and pull.  It will be more expensive to maintain than any Japanese or German vehicle you've ever owned though.  The more you push it the more this becomes true.  It's also one of the best Luxury off-road vehicles out there, especially if you're restricted to vehicles for sale in North America.  A G-Wagon or Landcruiser will cost more for similar performance, but will be generally more reliable.

What are you planning on using the truck for, have you ever owned a 4wheeler before?
