I realize non of us bought our Rovers for the stellar fuel economy, but don't want to suffer a drop kick when I buy new tires. I was reading a post that says 285s will fit a stock LR3. Is this true? If so, how bad does the mileage get? My LR3 is my daily driver, and I get about 14 mpg. I might have seen 18 on a long highway trip. Also, the post I read mentioned the LR3 looked out of place with 285s. I sure would like to see a picture of one with them, if anyone has a photo.

Living here in Colorado, I have seen a number of 285's on LR3's and this 62 year old thinks they look great. Certainly a great improvement for traction and ride and yes, they might hit you slightly at the gas pump. I am surprised you are getting that low a mileage, what octane are you using and have you checked your air pressure?

I have a V6, use the cheap gas, and check my tire pressure regularly. They are set at factory specs.........

285's will fit the LR3 with no problem. However, Disco Mike and I have a major difference of opinion when it comes to how an LR3 looks with 285's on it. When ever I go to Colorado for vacation I will look him up and invite him and his family to join my wife and I out for a nice dinner over which we will have a serious discussion on what REALLY looks acceptable on an LR3 . We both love spending time outdoors with our rovers but he likes the rugged look better, where I prefer the plush look.

I have them, but this message board is the pits for posting a picture. Sorry. I love the Cooper Zeon LTZ's 285's...Occasionally a little rub on the rears over a rough bump, but no problems at all offroad...they look great and add about another inch or two of clearance. Thumbnail Image

By the way, check out the video of the Great Divide Challenge from this summer. We all had Cooper Zeon LTZ tires. If you go here you can watch....http://youtube.com/watch?v=AMMYPqp2rS4
