I see a 2.7 I4 Diesel is available in the UK. Anyone else think that Ford should stick the awesome 6.0L V8 TDi Powerstroke into the LR3 for the US market?

Nice, but not big or powerfull enough for us Yanks. A 4.0L V8 TDi would probably suffice but the 6.0L Powerstroke would do just fine!

lol well I'm Canadian and I don't really need that much power. As long as it is fuel efficient, that works for us Canucks. But it better be easy to start in the frickin freezing winter here. =)

Man, I'd be happy if they'd offer any of those diesels in this thing.
... 2.7L, 4.0L, 6.0L Powerstroke, whatever!

Here's the LRNA line on the matter, though...

"At this time Land Rover does not have any plans to introduce a diesel
version of any of our models into the United States. This would require
several design and performance changes in order to be compliant with
strict U.S. safety and emissions standards. While there are no current
intentions of importing diesel vehicles, Land Rover may choose to do so
in the future. We do appreciate our customer's enthusiasm regarding a
diesel option and I have therefore forwarded your comments to product
development for consideration."

Toyota Sequoia and Nissan Armada will both have diesels in 2006.

As usual the American car companies think they have a bead on what the consumer wants. Can they afford to wait until gas is $80 per barrel and Toyota and Nissan have cornered the big suv market?

At around 15mpg, Ford's big SUV's, including Volvo and Land Rover, are doomed!

NO!!, 1, The powerstroke is such a piece, and i would never own one again, 2, why that big, heavy engine in a land rover? Land rover all ready has diesels if you want a diesel. How about just a small supercharger r turbo, i am talking like 7psi or so, that would be all the power you need.
