I am one of those affected by this epidemic.. mind you mine is 4 amigo xmas lights, TC, ABS, SRS and one more whch I cant remember right now.. Took it to dealer once, they cleared it and told me to spend 700$ just to change some sensor which didnt guarantee that the problem would be fixed. Why isnt Landrover taking responsibility for this issue. Every discovery owner I know has this problem in their disco.

Recalls only happen on safety related issues. Two things are necessary to force a recall: 1) Enough people have to complain about it that the NHTSA actually opens an investigation. I was just looking at the complaints website, and there are precious few for this issue. http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/complaints/ 2) The issue must be safety related. I'm sure LR know of the issue because of the warranty cost. But, if they believe (rightly or wrongly) that it is not a safety related issue, they won't do anything. From what I've read, when the 3 Amigos are on, the brakes still work, and I believe even the ABS works? If this is the case, it's not a recallable problem. If ANYBODY has had a crash caused by 3 Amigos and defective brakes, you HAVE to report it to the NHTSA. LR will likely have a lot of info on the problem, and potential safety issues, but they won't do anything until there is an NHTSA investigation.

Thanks for the offer Mike.. yes SRS is indeed for safety.. I am not a mechanic and dont know anything besides local dealers and garages charging me an arm and a leg to verify things! I dont think I have had anyone disconnect the battery cause the clock would have been messed up.

why dont you take responsibilty for the vehicle you bought? there are so many parameters involved, that may seem simple to you, however they never are!! If you work with your dealer respectfilly they may be more inclined to help you out!

There is a new technical bulliten out for the 3 amigos. On my 03' they came on once a day for 6 months and finally mentioned it while I was at the dealer. He told me the left side portion (as looking from front) of the ABS modulator had to be replaced to fix the problem. He told me it was a $700 part. I didnt care it was under warranty and it hasnt come on since.
