Any suggestions on improving the fuel economy on a 2003 DiscoII? Is a Diesel conversion practical if at all probable? Thanks, Walt

Forget the diesel, lots of bucks. Exactly what miles are you getting now, in town and on the road, have you replaced your plug wires and 02 sensors, what octane gas are you using and have you tried anything to improve your mileage yet?

Hello Mike, I don't own a Discovery yet but I am in the market for an '03,'04. I read where the diesels obtain 27 mpg, but as you know, are not available in North America. I wanted to know (aside from conversion) if it was possible to better the 16 mpg on the stock Disco. Thanks.

Basically no, not by more the a mile or so one way or the other. If youy are planning on doing alot of wheeling go for an 04 so you can have the CDL t/case for better traction.

the best way to get better gas mileage is to not get a Land Rover. If i wanted to drive something that got good mileage i'd drive a yaris.

Thanks dude, sarcasm is always helpful. The question was "what was the best way to better gas mileage in a Disco?" not "What vehicle will get the best gas mileage".I think you need a refresher on logic.

Sorry for some of the feed back, too many kids with a lack of maturity. Bottom line, there is no way to get more then at best 20 MPG at sea level.
