Have you checked for physical obstructions at the pedal itself?

And he said he removed the cable and it still stuck in the throttle body..wouldn't that point back to the carbon build up like dkeach and I were mentioning?

If he moved the t/body while the 2 cables are still hooked up and one of them is bad then the t/plate will still be hard to move, with both cables removed, 90% of the time the t/plate moves well.

Maybe I should take that back. Colorado is quite a drive for me..no wait...If you win Mike you have to come to Illinois to get your lunch.

If I win, you can't cave on this love hate relations hip you have with your Disco.

So far there has been no pressure from the wife to sell it Mike. I think she has the love/hate thing going on too!! LOL. as long as we can maintain the love part I may be able to retain ownership, especially if it proves it self a bit more reliable here as we go.

Back to the subject matter of this thread. My Throttle plate was gummed up pretty bad recently, and was sticking to the point that after you built up cable tension and it let go, it would rev to about 2200 while sitting in park. It would only stick that bad if you backed off the throttle real snappy and the plate "banged" home. This is why I'm still banking on the gummed up throttle plate and hoping the original symptom was slightly exaggerated.
I hope we get the results soon. I like to eat lunch at those places with the cloth napkins.

Always possible, I just have a hard time thinking someone would let it get that bad.

I have to agree with dkeach, Its almost always build up in the t-body housing causing the butterfly to stick.

Before wagering breaks out in Vegas or vast quantities of free food are demanded, I will perform said inspection in the AM and post the results.  If this works, there is BBQ in it for the winner, heck the loser too, just have to come to sunny San Antonio to collect

BTW, this isn't my regular daily vehicle.  I prefer 2 wheels when possible, which is almost every day here.  Have to admit I've semi-noticed it for a while, but combine laziness with not needing it daily and that might be how it became this bad.

Thanks to all for the suggestions and I will post the verdict tomorrow.
