Just purchased a used 2004 Range Rover HSE with 60,000 miles 2 months ago. For the last 3 days I've been getting the message on the dash "Transfer Case Neutral" only blinks on for 2-3 seconds then goes off. Only does this maybe 1 or 2 times on my 30 minute drive to work. Last night on the way home the "Transfer Case Neutral" message came on several time in a row. Then I felt the transmission shift and the dash display said something like "Transmission Safe Mode Program" Once I stopped and turned off the truck everything went back to normal, but when I returned to the highway the same thing happened.

Any help...????? or should I just bring the truck into the dealer and bend over..?!?!?!? :o)

Thanks,
Bob

Find a good independent Rover shop and have them scan the system, this is the only way to find and cure the problem.

check your owners manual, and look up the section regarding, towing the vehicle. there is a fuse you can install to safely tow the vehicle without causing damadge to the drivetrain. this fuse may be in place when it should not.

you will get a "transfer case select neutral" when one of the front cv axles
are not in all the way. have you had a front diff replaced lately?
