I have an 03 Discovery, the original tires are just about ready to go. At the same time I get new tires I want to lift the truck 2" using the OEM spacers front and back. My question is with this 2" lift - what is the biggest beefiest tire I can put on the stock 18" rims. I am afraid if I put the same stock tire size back on rim with a 2" lift it will look out of place. I am well aware that 16" rim/tire combo is way to go for the real off road use - but don't quite want to spend the money for new rims yet. Will probably do that a few more years down the line when truck is not a daily driver anymore. Just looking for a better appearence and a little added off road height/grip while I have to spend the money for new tires anyway. Again - with a 2" lift - what is biggest tire for stock 18" rim. Anyone know - Thanks -Mike

First, you should never use spacers on an old Rover suspension, you will get alot of body swaying because you are even more top heavy and no suspension to stabilize the body. Need to spend the bucks and put some new coils and shocks, the difference in the ride is far worth it. Are you also aware that as you go to the 31 plus inch tires you will loose up to 2 MPG in town and 1.5 on the road?

Thank you for the tips. I have decided to hold off on everything and just do it right in a year when its paid off and will be used for just leisure driving. Will do 16's , AT Tires, Coils, and Springs. Whats a beefy tire I can put on my stock 18's now? Can I go above stock sizes? Not worried about the gas mileage. Thanks Mike

Take a loob at the Bridgestone Dueller line, they make 2 or 3 tread designs that seem to hold up well.

I just did a 2" lift on a friend of mine's 02 Disco. We put 275/65R18 BF's on it and it looks and rides great. I took it over our rock track here at the dealership and it did just fine at full articulation. I would recommend white lettering outside. It looks sharp but that is a personal preferance.

You may be able to go to a 285 also, but it will be pushing it. Remember the taller the tire, the worse your gas mileage.
