I recently purchases a 2002 disco se. I am pretty pleased with the stock radio. But man, there is almost no bass coming out of those 12 speakers. Great highs, ok mids, and very very little lows. What gives? Is this normal or did something blow? I would expect better on a 40k vehicle.

thanks,

I get plenty of bass I swear, we do have something like two 6" in the rear door. I have the H/K and Pioneer stereo and mines a 97 Disco, maybe somethings different.

Your subs in the rear must not be working or you dont have the subs in the very rear door. I put some rap in today and turned the bass up, it was enough to rattle my windows something terrible.

I'm in the same boat as you. I can't tell if there are subs or not. There is absolutely no bass in the truck and I have already looked at putting a small 8" sub in there just to help. It sounds really good, just need some more "umph" at the low notes.

Not to mention how much square footage and how hollow a Discovery is in order to rock out. I saw a nice mod some time ago if you're willing to sacrafice a jumpseat. The mod is simply removing the jumpseat and placing a 12" in its place. It's posted on www.discoweb.org
