gsgtsg -> Water - electrics (2/28/2008 12:28:11 PM)

Hi,

Vehicle: Discovery year 2000 Petrol 4l V8 Automatic

1) Will a leaking back/front sunroof, seep rain water into the interior front courtesy light and onto the sun-visor overhead tray, which is situated near the rear-view mirror.

2) When it rains heavily, the following switches on the dash near the gear-stick malfunction:
-fuel-cap switch
-hazards switch
-door lock switch
-central locking malfunctions
-rear/front heater switch
-rear wiper switch (right of steering)
-the gear-stick indicator LCD near the speed-dial blinks with a ‘crossed’ D - Drive.

The Clock, Heater and Radio function fine.

After a few hours, ranging from 3 hours to sometimes 20 hours, everything seems to get back to normal.

i) Please advise if there is ONE circuit/ECU controlling all these switches?
ii) Where is the ECU situated, is it near the interior front courtesy light?
iii) What else could be causing these switches to malfunction?

Thank you.

Yes.

The ECU is under the hood.  The water isn't getting to that, it is shorting out the local connections.  i.e. relay buttons that you speak of.

Do a search on here, there are posts on how to clear your drain tubes for your sunroofs.
