When the engine is cold, I never have a string problem as of yet. But 3 times now when the engine is warmed up, I can turn is off for 5 min or so, then when I go to start it, is just turns over. All three times, I have to wait about 15 min or 20 min, and it would start right up. I did not smell and fuel, so I was thinking Crank Position Sensor. I can go a few days and never have the problem again, but I have noticed when it would not start the engine was already up to operating temp. Also I was going to also change out the fuel filter as well. It's a 2000 Disco II with about 90,000 miles on it. I look forward to everyones sugjesions.

Any codes? Crank sensors can fail and not throw a code so you may want to have a mechanic test it for signals.

nope, no codes. I may just buy the sensor since the cost of a machanic would be about the same.

Well, I just went to move my disco to the other side of my drive way and it's a nogo. Won't start now. What I have seen happen over the last 6 weeks started, while sitting at a red light the engine would die out of the blue. This has happened about 4 times, but would start right up. Now in the last 2 weeks, I have turned it off, then go to start it back up, and it would only just turn over, and that's about it. I would walk away for 15 min or so, then it would start right back up. Now it will never start. Can't get it to a land rover shop, so I am open to what I shouold do? My thoughts would be to replace the MAF Senor, and the Crankshaft Position Sensor. I read from this link: http://www.rangerovers.net/newrremedies.htm#cranksense I don't know where to start, or if I'm starting in the right areas. Any help here would be great. I need it to pull my boat.....and it's almost spring.

I just wanted to update this if anyone should search and find it. My problem was the Crank sensor. It was about 90 bucks to buy, and took about 2 hours to do it. I had trouble locating it, and removing it, but all my issues I stated above are gone. Hope this helps.

By the way Woody, I hope you didn't buy a new MAF and hope you found you don't have a external fuel filter on a D2.
