Is this for a disco 1 or disco 2 or applies to both? I'm hearing a bit of a clunk when i shift from drive to neutral too.

The main front drive shaft issue is for D2's but if you haven't been greasing your u-joints at least every 12K they may be trash by now.

The u-joint mfg say grease them every 3,000, so I just do it every oil change to it's habit.

I actually had a non-cardon (Disco I) front driveshaft installed on my Disco II. Due to this unusual configuration I had to also purchase a front flange kit in order to mount the new shaft. Also went with the roto-flex kit and a new Neapco 1-0005 u-joint in the rear. I had to enlist the help of a local driveshaft/performance shop to pull out and press in the roto-flex pilot bushing. I don't foresee the need to do anyhing else to the driveshafts except for reqular lubrication with synthetic grease. During the install we also drained and refilled the differentials. Ok, I'm pretty close to being ready to order a new front drive shaft, which seems like the safest and quickest option at this point, though perhaps not the cheapest.

Just to be sure I'm doing everything correctly, I took a few photos and hope you all can continue to check up on and correct me.

If I order from Tom Wood's, they want me to "measure from the face of the flange at the transfer case to the face of the flange on the differential." I measured from the two areas identified by arrows on the photos below. Is this correct?

How precise should this measurement be? Or will it reference a standard size? I came up with almost exactly 24", though the exact measurement looked to be 23 15/16".

(I also included one additional photo of the front of the shaft--would you all be replacing this now?)

While under the truck, I also took a few photos of the rotoflex. I see some minor cracks in the surface of the rubber, but nothing major. Or is this enough wear to be concerned? (Photos attached.)

You are correct for where you measured for your front drive shaft. Tell them 24" and you'll be fine. Not an expert on the rotoflex at the rear as I haven't even peeked at mine yet. I'm sure that'll be next....

When you talk to Tom Woods, they keep track of the sizes, I have heard from a few people who have mentioned a 24" shaft, slightly longer for the 03 and 04.
Why buy one though when you can rebuild them for around $150 plus, parts and labor?

How many miles on your roto flex, if over 80 K you might want to order one soon cause your will start shaking soom based on that last piucture. Go to Rover Connection for the best price on a Rover replacement.

Andrew, DSSS listed my shaft at $295. Their website indicates 10% off on-line orders. They do charge shipping. Call them and speak with Oscar. Tell him Mark from Florida suggested you call...

Having "new" front and rear driveshafts is like night and day.
