What's up everyone....

Just needed some help. I need to replace my alternator on my 1998 dico with a new one.
Just wanted to know if anyone had any visual step-by-step instructions on how to do this and what kind of tools i'll need for the job.
While I'm at it I 'll also need to change the belt.

I any help whether visual(jpgs, pdf,etc...) or text would be very helpful.

thanks,

let me start out by saying this: you sound like a person that is willing to learn and get a lil dirty with your ride which is cool i respect that and my honest opinion is to get a good manual one that doesnt have grease and pages missing and start from there but here is a litlle help with the alternator: (this is all off the top of the head so if something is a 14 instead you will get the drift)
. get a 15mm wrench the longer the better (not a deep socket) and find the belt tensioner location under the alt. on ps side of vehicle
. turn bolt clockwise no bolts should come loose just movement in the pulley
. take off belt
remove the two wires on the back of the alt... these wires are fool proof cant put one on the other correctly
. remove the two golden 13mm bolts on side of the alt
. remove alt
. put new one in and connect then you can reverse to put back in

ps: remember this is off the top of the head fri. after work so if i missed a step just ask we can help you out.. oo and good luck
dont be afraid to learn get dirty dont be scared

thanks modyfyit.
Thats what I thought. I 'm not that familiar with the Land Rover engine.
Just didn't want to disturb any electrical gremlins which supposedly plague LR's.

And I'm definitely getting a workshop manual (probably a Haynes...unless you could recommend a better one).

Thanks for the quick reply.

yes... lrs are plagued by electrical but you wont have anything to worry about with changing the alt unless you do it with the key on.. haynes isnt the best but it will give you a good idea on what you are looking at wand what you are up against in most situations
