How sweet is this:  After spending about $1500 in upgrades to my 01 DII today, the wife was happy for me.  She knew I always wanted to lift the Disco.  On top of that, DiscoMike showed me how to check and see if I have a locking diff.  Well, I do!  My 01 was manufactured in 9/00.  I crawled under the Disco in the pouring down rain and there it was...the nipple!  Now where do I get the linkage?

I think I need to buy a lottery ticket.

I know how you feel.  I found the CDL nipple on my '01 (early Feb. '01 build date) and just ordered the CDL linkage off an '04 model.  The '04 linkage is very hard to come by and costs a pretty penny (~$300) before the installation.  I'm going to try and install it with the help of a couple friends sometime in April.  Cerrone's quoted me about 4 hours for the install but they have done it before.  If you take the DIY approach sounds like it can take upwards of 8 hours to install.  A cheaper route to go would be to find a readily available D1 shifter for around $150.  And the cheapest route is to build a manual lever that you engage outside the truck right under the front passenger side door.  BTW, what other mods did you get for your truck other than the lift?

While the 04 linkage is nice, I'd save the money and drop the $125 for a D1 linkage.  Installs easily and you'll not regret it.  Hands down the best mod I've done to my truck.

Jamie,
I could really have fun with your nipple post, but I think I won't.
Glad to hear you found it and hope you followed my directions as to how to engage it.
