So the wifey and I were out in "Rovee" and  we went to get the oil changed.  Needed an air filter, but the mechanic did not have one, so I took it to AutoZone who got me one delivered to their store same day.  Just as I was leaving, the 3 Amigo's showed up, so I ran in to get the acne ridden teen to come out and run the tester on the codes.  I don't know if he didn't read it right or what, but he said that there aren't any codes.  I said, "Do you see those three warning lights, there has to be some codes."  Just before we walked out the door the first time, he asked the good 'ol boy old man if there reader would read it, he said it would.

Is this a common problem with their code reader, or could this be the Land Rover just acting up?

Is there a certain code reader I should ask for at my next visit to a mechanic?

The 3 amigo's only show up every now and then.

Hmmmm....

It takes a lap top type scanner to read ABS codes.
Are your brakes dusty, do your wheels squeak, if so that is what is causing your lights to come and go.

I think the brakes squeak, but not that much, I will check this afternoon.

Do you have any recommendations if they are not squeaking that much?

The braking seems fine, it doesn't seem like the pads need to be changed.

First of all when dealing with Rovers ABS issues, brakes must be fully inspected, each wheel, so to hear you say they seam fine tells me you haven't inspected them.
What brand of brake pad and rotors are you using, how much is left on your pads, when did you last bleed your brakes?
If the brakes are squeaking, even a little, they can throw the 3 Amigos.
Do your front wheels get a build up of brake dust?

like I said, I will be inspecting them.  we just got the rover in December of 07.  I don't know anything about the pads, rotors, nothing.  They fronts are not building up alot of dust.  I have never bled the brakes as we have only had it for just a few months.  I have no idea on any previous work completed.  I just need some time to look at everything.
