I have a 01 DISCO and have a continual debate with other drivers (specifically my brother). The Land Rover runs in 4x4 High all the time - I have told my brother to put his truck in 4x4 High and leave it.

He is insisted that this will cause extra wear and tear and is not benefit to him; I disagree but need some facts.

Any help,

Thanks

do not drive a non all wheel drive in 4 all the time, it will lead to wear and break things. On the disco's the 4x4 is all wheel drive. the center diff is "open" power can transfer between fron and rear axle's when you lock your center diff in our disco's if would be like your brother putting his truck into 4 wheel drive. You brother is very correct.

the rover is designed for full time 4 wheel drive. If the vehicle is not designed for it. use it when you need it. The systems should be used once in a while in both high and low range. it keeps things working right. The once in a while is just for a couple of minutes. hope it helps, gotta love a rover. duboff
