I have a 1998 Range Rover 4.6L HSE rated at 220HP. Before this, I had a 1998 Mercury Mountaineer 5.0L rated at 350HP (I modified it). I just bought the Range Rover and I love the way it looks, but not the performance. Currently, I am wondering if I can put a Ford Boss 302ci (5.0L) crate engine into the Range Rover. Compatibility with the transmission and other issues aside, will it even fit? If not, what are some alternatives? The ultimate goal would be 500 HP, but I would be happy with at least 350 HP. The true Boss that gets 500 HP is actually 331ci. Would that fit? Let me know. I grew up around muscle cars, but I never liked crawling in and out of them. That is why I drive trucks and SUVs. This engine looks and sounds amazing. If you want you can check it out at any of the following links: http://www.muscularmustangs.com/2006/news0110boss302engine.php http://brothersperformance.com/newsletter/bossisback/ http://www.fordracingparts.com/jumppages/boss.asp http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9svEdCTMWQ8&feature=related Not enough information? You can always google it yourself.

You don't want a Rover!! They were never set up to be a muscle car, there are only a couple of places in the UK where you can get a little over 350 H.P. engines and the power train needs to be completely rebuilt to handle the torque.

Lone Wolf, Just curious if you have not responded because of my post? I know it wasn't what you may have wanted to hear, but it is the way it is, Rovers can't take the weight or Torques you are looking for.

Check out RPI in the U.K. I have been getting things from them. Don't look if you are worried about what it will cost (Dollar to Pound) but you can get the HP from them.
