1996 Disco...

Heres what happend..driving on interstate about 70mph (all this in under 60 sec) Valve chatter got loud...oil light blinking check engine light on...pull over immediatly truck running a bit rough.....

I check oil...its full...?WTF?

I added a quart anyhow and oil light went off but check engine light still on and running rough..

Any ideas? I was on a long trip 600 miles from home. Had to park it and rent a car to get home....

Any insight is greatly appreciated.....

The oil pump may have stopped working, and thus you had no oil pressure, and therefore no oil circulating around the system.

Another issue, did you check the water level for the radiator, if this is empty, then the head gasket has gone.

Hope it is of some help.. Best of luck at getting it running again
