If one of the hoses is not hot at operating temp, then you've got a clog or an air bubble. It sounds like you've got a coolant issue, and your guage is fine. If you've properly bled the air from the system..then you've got a clog somewhere. A flush might get it out. Also which hoses were you talking about, the upper and lower radiator hoses? If so, did you also check the heater core hoses at the firewall? Both should be hot as well (too hot to hold on to, but able to be touched for a quick second)
