G'Day All, I'm in the process of replacing my timing belt, and doing a rebuild on the injector pump. I've noticed that the bearings for the Viscus fan, ( the one in the cover ) is U/S - has anyone tried to replace this bearing, and if so , how successful where you. It seems like replacing the cover just because the bearing is shot, is damned stupid. I have access to a good machine shop, with lathes and millers, and welding Ali is no problem. Hope you can help Cheers Bazil

ORIGINAL: bazil I've noticed that the bearings for the Viscus fan, ( the one in the cover ) is U/S - has anyone tried to replace this bearing, Bazil There is no kit made to repair it. One normally just replaces the whole water pump..(which normally announces the impending death of the bearing by leaking from a little hole underneath). They cost $150 up. There is a 215 kit that has been used by others successfully..which you can probably source from NAPA. I have never tried it. The watchpoint is to examine the water pump impeller carefully because as the bearing goes, the impeller can grind against the timing cover. James
