Hi I arrived home tonight and my wife told me the drivers side door handle of our RR 2003 will not open the door.
You can open it from the inside.
There appears to be no resitance from the outside handle, it still springs back but does not work.
There is a clicky sound from the acutuator ( i think) like a rattle of some thing not connected.
Can anyone tell me how the outside handle connects to the door latch.... usually a rod or cable, I am not looking forward to taking the door apart, but can if that will solve my problem easily....feels like something may have become disconnected

try this first. there is a grommet on the rear face of the door about a few inches below where the outter handle goes in. remove it, youll be able to see, may need a light, some linkage and a small allen bolt. watch this as you opperate the outter handle, see if there is play in it. if so, tighten it with the handle at rest, closed. i want to say its a left hand thread bolt, not 100% on that though, so be easy with the whole righty tighty rule.

you know what i had this prob once too.

it was this little pin deal that locked"snaped" into place inside the door. allowing the handle to open the door.
Well wat i did was open the door panel & clip the piece into place...whala! door opened again...
sorry brotha!

Cheers Thanks for both those replies.
The grommet hole revealed that there was no movement at the latch despite the handle moving on the outside. So I will try 2cv's approach and see if that little pin is not attached, it seems that this is a likely cause as all the elctrics etc go fine and the inside works perfectly.
Dark here in NewZealand at present so will try in the morning and let you know. Thank you for you wise council
