Occasionally when I turn the key in the ignition I get no reaction at all from the starter / engine.  All of the accessories and panel lights react like normal but nothing else.  Is this symbolic of something - is this designed in order to make me aware of something, (like a reminder to check fluids), or is this evidence of an impending ignition problem?  I'd say it happens maybe once in fifteen starts or so, no real regularity.

If it would have been a sign of something it would not have been just occasional. Might be a faulty wire somewhere. Check your fuses 1st, maybe there's a problem there.

All I can say, is it is not normal, be it an ignition switch or starter relay possibly.

Thanks guys.  I suspected this wasn't something that should be occurring.  Now that I'm paying more attention to it I see that it's happening more frequently than it used to.  A couple of times it's even bumped the starter over barely then quit.  To this point the engine has always started right up on the second attempt.  At least I know now to add this to my laundry list for the dealer on my next visit.  Vehicle only has 32k miles.
