Gas is $4.07 - $4.50  already here in the Bay Area, Ca. Diesel is almost $5.00 at some stations here. It is costing me around $80.00 to fill up the tank. I'm certainly not rich enough to buy the gas station but I did have enough to buy the 57k SUV in the first place, right? I don't see where $80 per fill up is gonna make me drive the 89 civic, nor sell/trade the truck, nor take public transportation, nor take rentals for long trips. Heck, I bought it for long trips in the first place.

If you spend the money to buy a top of the line SUV in the first place, KNOWING before hand that they don't exactly top the fuel efficiency chart, and now want to complain about the gas prices and the mileage, you got bigger issues at hand, I think. I certainly hope LR is putting some thought into more fuel efficient models in the future, but I'm ok with the choice I made to buy this truck so far.

I actually bought it partly for its fuel econ.
when i want real good mpg i ride the harley.
for the mpg you get and where you can take it off road and still get around 18 on the freeway
im not going to complain find me a vehicle that fits 7 adults as comfortable with awd and gets better mpg?

My 95 montero gets around 15MPG the 02 Discovery I just added gets around 15MPG so in my mind I am looking at 30MPG which sounds good to me.

I just charge my customers more to cover the costs.  Luckily fuel is a write-off for me as well.
