Hello,
My oil pressure warning light will NOT come on.  When I turn on the ignition the light does not light up as all the other dash lights do.  I’ve check the bulb (it works in other dash light sockets) and even unplugged the switch near the oil filter and the light still doesn’t come on.  Somewhere between the switch and light has the wire become grounded?  Where do I start to look for the solution.

Background:  1991 Range Rover (180k miles) with a 95 defender engine (80k miles).  My oil pressure light was flickering last week so I changed the filter and cleaned the drain pan (it was already clean but I did it again anyway).  The Light still flickered so I did an ATF flush.  When I went to start the engine with the new 10w- 40 the oil pressure warning light wouldn’t come on.

Any helpful info on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan

Oil pressure sending units can fail. Have you checked that?

Phototone,
Do you mean the switch or is the "oil pressure sending unit" something diffrent? If the switch is unplugged the oil pressure light should come on...right?

Thanks,
Dan

I did nothing to fix the problem but now the light works as it should.  Great! An intermittent electrical issue.  I'm starting to understand why Lucas was called the Prince of Darkness.

Thanks,
Dan

PS  The new oil pressure switch has just under 1000miles on my truck.
