Good day everyone,
 
I’m looking to get informed with the Discovery Series. I’m very well versed-I’ve restored old vehicles from time to time. My specialty is anything electrical/electronic, emissions and body refinishing.
 
I’m looking to find what are the “fleas” or the years to avoid. I’m looking at the mid nineties; I would like to stay above 1996 because of ODBII, but not glued to any year.
 
If I find one not running, what are the common problems-ie blown head gasket, ECU failure, wiring or etc.
 
Any good past threads?

original head gaskets are prone to blowing. Aluminum block and heads with steel gasket material. I think Robison service has a few articles out there. Do a search on here about thinking about buying. Countless threads on differences in years.

Most older Disco's that had problems had been fixed under Warranty but got a bad rap do to initial quality.

Mine had the head gaskets changed at 12,000 miles and had some oil leaks fixed.
After that it was the odd water pump or fuel pump, a few recalls to update the ECM change the gas tank.

The biggest problem is now that Land Rovers are so cheap people buy them and drive them until something goes wrong that they can't afford to fix so they sell them.
Most of those had not had reg service either.
