I have a 96 discovery se. My car will not go over 50 mph and struggles up hills. Someone told me it was a broken/clogged catalytic converter and I had a friend check it, but it seems to be fine! Another friend told me it could be the torque converter? I was looking online and I saw something about the kickdown cables or throttle linkage. Could someone help me out? It just started doing this the other day out of nowhere.

It is either your cats are clogged or you MAF is bad. You cannot tell if your cats are bad just by looking at them. Is your check engine light on? Have you had the codes read yet? What are they? Hoe many miles on your trk?

How many miles on the truck, when was it last tuned and what was done, do you have any check engine lights on, if so what are the fault codes?
