I have owned my 2003 Disco HSE almost one week; it was purchased from Land Rover Newport Beach. I am beginning to see why I am having electrical gremlins(brake lights come on with headlights and instrument panel lights illuminate when brake pedal is depressed). I inspected the car and have evidence that the car was hit rather hard as the rear quarter panel was replaced and the exhaust sytem has a crimp in it. The quarter panel is unpainted on the inside and has no protective undercoating. There are numerous areas of overspray as well. Dealer claims ignorance. The car was not purchased "as-is" as I purchased an extended coverage plan. Do you feel one could make a clear case for a buyback?

I seem to think so and if they wont work with you contact a lawyer. If they know your series they wont want the headache. Did you run a carfax report yet? If not do it and see what shows up.

Good Luck!

I have a complete and clear Carfax report which means nothing. I understand that many remarkable events in the car's history conveniently slip through the Carfax datatbase as their main purpose is really to help dealers sell cars. This foolish report is a nothing more than a false sense of security.

I would never believe there was no damage just cause it is not in the Carfax but it is one more thing to check to get as much information as possible. I have a 96 Disco that has been in a fender bender that was not listed there either but I still check it!

Good Luck

Get in touch with both your state and local D.A.'s office and see what the laws are in your area.

If a vehicle was damaged in some way and was not insured for the damage, or no insurance claim was filed, and no police report was issued (perhaps on private property?) then I don't see how Carfax would be able to have any record of it.
