Hello out there! I own a 99 Disco 1 with high mileage. I hear a loud thump everytime I put the vehicle in reverse. Like a shift bump. This only occurs when I shift the gear in Reverse. Also, some my wife lost the coolant cap over a week ago. Been driving it around since before discovering it missing yesterday. Just ordered one online. Is this the same cap that goes on the expansion tank? Other than that there are no problems. I got a sweet deal. We've only owned it for 3 months. I want to do all of any kind of repairs so will be here for info in the coming months. And if Disco Mike is reading this. You are a Godsend. (Among others in this forum)You have so much information and tech answers. Just wanted to know what kind of gas should I be putting in my tank? Currently I fill up half tank with Exxon special. Is this ok? I hear there is a list of things I should do to upkeep this investment. Any help would be appreciated

Always run the highest octane you can, you will get better mileage also. Get that cap on quick or you may over heat your engine.
