Disco II, door jamb says manufactured in November of 2000.  I was told that this model has the ability to engage the CDL, thus allowing me to remove the front driveshaft and still drive the vehicle around town while it's getting rebuilt.

First off...is this safe?  I don't want to toast anything if engaging the CDL and driving around is a bad idea.  I'd rather just park it, rebuild the shaft and save myself the risk.  If it's safe--

How do I go about enabling it?  From what I've seen there looks to be a nipple on the top of the transfer-case, doesn't look too easy to access.  I just throw a wrench on it and turn it?

Anything else to be aware of with this?

As always, thank you.

Well...I'm not saying this is the RIGHT thing to do...but...when my front driveshaft busted...I had to get to work and drove for about a week with the CDL engaged and no front driveshaft...

I know, you guys are going to rip me up on this one...but hey...mission first.

Mike,

I'll give you a call tomorrow if the weather is nice.  I need to pick up a paint pen to mark the alignment of the shaft anyhow.  Hopefully I can take it to get rebuilt on Thursday and have it back by the weekend at the latest.
