Go get your codes read and get back to us with your exact 4 digit fault code numbers.
How many miles on the truck and when was it tuned last?

there is just over 100,000 on the clock  and its the td5 2.5 td as to when it was last tuned who knows i have had it a year and had no problems with it till now. i have a problem with diesel leaking where it enters the engine (i am not too familiar with the tec speak) large block at the back of the engine but cant get to where it is leaking. could air be getting into the fuel line and making the engine cut out? i can manage when it does stop (hazzard lights and a smile to other drivers) but the wife panicks and phones me. as for getting the codes read i will try to get to a dealer as there are not too many local garages here in little old ireland that will read the faults for me  the lift pump is working fine but i will try changing the fuel filter tomorro as it is in nearly a year
cheers john

Sorry,
It didn't mention it was a diesel and I have no experience with them.
Let us know what you find.

just in case anyone else has the same trouble with a diesel disco cutting out i have cured it. turns out that when i used an injector cleaning additive the deposits that were cleaned out went to the fuel filter (behind the rear drivers side wheel) and caused the filter to become clogged up making the fuel stop suddenly for a second thus cutting out the engine!
simple cure changed the filter and away we went. cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!
